Continuing Education Rules & Regulations for Georgia Private Investigators
If you're a registered private detective employee in Georgia, you must meet specific continuing education requirements to renew your registration. Continuing Education Requirements
- Registered private detective employees must complete 16 hours of continuing education per two-year period.
- The 16 hours break down as 12 industry hours (up to 4 of which may be firearms), 2 hours of ethics, and 2 hours of homeland security.
- Renewal is biennial and is due by August 31 of odd-numbered years.
- Distance learning is permitted; no online cap is stated by the Board.
- Extra CE hours cannot be carried over to the next renewal period.
Steps to Receive Continuing Education Credit
- Complete the required hours through approved or distance-learning providers.
- Self-certify completion of your CE at renewal.
- Submit proof (Form 31 and certificates) only if you are selected for a CE audit. Retain your certificates.
