Continuing Education Rules & Regulations for Alabama Private Investigators

If you're a licensed private investigator in Alabama, you must meet specific continuing education requirements to renew your license. Continuing Education Requirements

  • Private investigators in Alabama must complete 16 contact hours of continuing education per two-year renewal period.
  • A minimum of 8 hours must be earned in each calendar year of the renewal period.
  • 2 of the 16 hours must be in Ethics.
  • Up to 8 hours may be earned through self-study or online self-paced courses per renewal.
  • Extra CE hours cannot be carried over to the next renewal period.
